Giuseppe "Pistol Joe" Mangione is the eldest son of Don Felice Mangione and is first-in-line to take over the family business. He is known for his quick temper and his ruthless tactics. He earned the nickname "Pistol Joe" because of his affinity for guns and his willingness to use them. He is a dangerous element in the Mangione crime family, and a 'useful idiot' to his father.

Background

Giuseppe was born in Black Water, in 1914. He grew up in the shadow of his father, who was the head of the Mangione crime family. His father didn't want the same life for his son, but Giuseppe was drawn to the power and influence that came with the criminal life. He rose through the ranks of the family, through his sheer brutality and ruthlessness. He is known for his quick temper and his willingness to use violence to get what he wants.

Relationship to other characters

Giuseppe has a complicated relationship with his father, Don Felice Mangione, and his younger brother, Arturo "The Bear" Mangione. He wants nothing more than his father's approval but is constantly overshadowed by his younger brother. His younger brother, Arturo, who is known only for his brute strength. Giuseppe's constant attempts to try to prove himself to his father repeatedly creates more issues than it solves.

Giuseppe will overextend himself, leading to disastrous consequences for the family. Requiring his father to step in and clean up his messes, or force Giuseppe's hand, usually through violence. This cycle of violence is the source for the strained with his father, and unwanted attention from the authorities.
