Overview

Giovanni "The Shark" Fierro is a key member of the Mangione crime family. He is known for his cunning and ruthless tactics. He earned the nickname "The Shark" because of his predatory nature. He and Don Mangione have a long-standing relationship that goes back to their childhood. Though their relationship has begun to sour as Giovanni has begun to question the Don's leadership.

Background

Giovanni was born in Sicily in 1893. He grew up in a small village on the coast and has always been drawn to the sea. However, during the war, his family was forced to flee to escape the violence. They settled in Black Water, where Giovanni quickly adapted to his new surroundings.

The life in Black Water was harsh and unforgiving, and Giovanni quickly learned that the only way to survive in this city was to be ruthless. With few options available to him, he turned to a life of crime. He met Felice Mangione when they were both teenagers and the two quickly became friends.

Little by little, Giovanni and Felice built up their territory, using their cunning and ruthlessness to outmaneuver their enemies. Unlike Felice, Giovanni didn't have the same gentlemanly demeanor and became known for his brutal nature. Despite the pair being in sync when it came to 'dealing' with rivals, it was Giovanni's cold, dead-eye stare that earned him the nickname "The Shark."

Relationship to other characters

Giovanni has a long-standing relationship with Don Mangione. While he respects the Don and is loyal to him, he has begun to question his leadership. Giovanni believes that Felice has become too soft in his old age and that the family needs to 'Go back to the matresses' to maintain their power in the city.

He has begun to make moves behind the Don's back, taking riskier and more aggressive actions. While this isn't out of line with the family's usual tactics, it has put him at odds with Felice. The results have 'paid off' in the short term, allowing Giovanni to gain more power and influence within the family. However, Don Mangione knows that doing so puts a target on their backs for short-term gains, and his patience is wearing thin.
